Are All Guys Slobs? (Part Two)

Do not read this post unless you have read Part One.

So what's the problem with being messy? I suppose my problem with it resides in my belief that messiness results from laziness. Rather than "bothering" to clean up after ourselves, we just let things go uncared-for. [I know all you Proverbs students are yelling, "What about Proverbs 14:4?" at your computer screens right now. And to that I say, No yelling in the computer lab. The verse is talking about the necessary signs of use; I'm referring to unnecesary mess. There's a difference.] And unnecessary mess can only result from laziness.

No one has challenged the idea that messiness is bad. If you doubt me, check the comments on my last post. Even those who said they are lazy named it a fault and either sought to justify it or admitted the need to change.

So what's the big deal with laziness? Is it a character flaw that needs addressing? Is it a personality trait requiring tweaking? Is it a sign that a person has greater goals and visions that don't leave them time to clean up after themselves? What causes us to be messy? Is it always bad?

Your turn.
