Still Thankful
It's been a little over a week since my last post and about the same amount of time since Thanksgiving, but I've not lost the spirit of the holiday. At the moment, I'm particularly thankful for God's direction, especially to this school.
When considering my college choices in college, I was interested in Maranatha but was not planning to attend the college. I didn't know a single person at the school and had met only one graduate. I knew little more about it than that it was an accredited Christian in Wisconsin. Financially, Maranatha was the worst option I had. I made plans to attend another college.
When it came time to apply at that school, however, God wouldn't give me any peace about it. He seemed to be pointing me, instead, toward Maranatha. So I tenatively changed my plans and applied at Maranatha.
God's reassurance that Maranatha was where he had me started almost immediately. I was still moving my things into my room, when a sophomore popped into the room to introduce himself and offer to help me unpack. Nic has since become one of my close friends. And the reassurances piled up. Looking back, I can see God working in my life so clearly through my interaction with this institution. The ministry opportunities, godly faculty, encouraging friends, and continual sermons and lessons from God's Word have made a profound impact on my life.
God has used so many little things to work in me. Getting to do regular room and floor devos has opened my eyes to the importance of sharing with others what God is teaching me. Sharing burdens and blessings with the same friends I have fun with has been a sharpening experience. The book I was assigned to read for Intro. to Philosophy was such a spiritual challenge. God is good, and as I try to figure out what my future holds, I know that if I'll just trust God, He'll work everything out.
