Downshifting

Classes have started again at the ol' Natha. Well, they have for some. Some of you, that is. That's right, I have no Tuesday/Thursday classes. And after this week, I'll have no regular hours in the yearbook office. Sure, some would consider first through seventh hour on MWF a harsh sentence for two days of freedom, but I'll gladly make that trade. I hope to find a real, live, off-campus job this semester, and two full days open should increase my chances of getting one. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and my ability to be available when 95% of the other Maranatha students are busy should help. Of course, this is still all in theory. I haven't actually found a job yet. But I'm looking.

The accrual of free hours is going to be filled in other ways as well. I'm an RA this semester and looking forward to putting some time into simply getting to know and, Lord-willing, be an encouragement to my guys. I'm also acting in Bobbi's play, along with the multiple other ministries and opportunities I like to take part in. In other words, I get to cut back on the academic work and increase the extra-curriculars an ministry involvement. I'm excited. God has used those areas just to teach me as much as He's used my time in the classrooms on this campus, and I can't wait to see what He has for me this semester.

Yeah no T/TH classes!! Are we slackers for doing this (actually, the registrar office told me I was a slacker so, maybe I am at least).

If you need the car, let me know, we can work something out. I'm working in the kitchen while the ohter "slackers" around campus attend classes. S&K is looking to hire, maybe that'd work for you; you'd be really good at that.

By the way, the RA gig is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I can't think of a better ministry for me at least. I love it. I'd do it even if they didn't pay me, but that's just an added bonus.

You should work in the Foodservice. Just think of it: you'd get paid to eat and socialize! The W word is mentioned once in a while, but only to spice things up a bit. Have fun job hunting. I'm sure off-campus jobs are a leetle more inviting. (: Congrats on the promotion. I was a RA once. It was mixed housing though. Relatives just don't listen to the lights out call. They think they own the place or something.
Have a good one!

About Me

  • I'm justinic9 .
  • Currently calling Changchun, Jilin, China home.
  • You'll really find out the most about me by reading my posts, but a little background never hurt. I just graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College with a B.S. in Humanities. I plan to go to grad school eventually, but I'm taking a few years to teach English in China before I go back to school. And, um, you should just go read the blog now.
